More and more, product teams are operating
without dedicated designers.
Experioso + Consultation is a great way
to employ research & design methodologies
without employing another full-time worker.
Why Experioso + Consultation?
As strange as it is to say after two decades in the field, not every product team needs full-time designers. I've worked for plenty of teams that just needed a nudge in the right direction, and a follow-up now and then to help keep things running smoothly.
Once a research and design plan is in place, a lot of teams can get by on an initial research stage, using everything they've learned to determine their design decisions from that point onward. I've found that it's helpful to have regular check-ins with teams as they go through their research, strategy, design and testing stages, and for companies with small design teams, my presence is useful as a lead and mentor, while those without designers rely on me to help more directly.
The Workshop
With this plan, we start out with the Experioso workshop, where up to 12 members of your company will learn about the process, even non-designers. Especially non-designers. The workshop covers the 5 stages of the product design process: Research, Scenarios. Prototyping, Usability Testing, and Socialization.
The Consultation
After the workshop, you'll have 2 hours of my time every week to help with whatever needs to be done. I'll help establish a research plan, write out incredible scenarios, or prepare usability test sessions, whatever you need to help your design team get things done.
Don't have a design team? I can be your 1-person team during that time as well. I can put together prototypes, work on your design system, and moderate those usability tests.
And it doesn't have to be exactly 2 hours each week—the plan covers 100 hours of consulting over the year, and we can shift things around as needed. If there's a time of year that would benefit from more of my help, we'll make it work.
The Workshop (again)
After six months, we'll hold another workshop, making sure that the company's getting what they need out of these exercises. Each subsequent workshop can focus on what the company needs at the time: we might realize we need to spend more time on research or prototyping or testing, so we'll make sure the workshop aligns with what's needed every quarter.
You don't actually have to sign up for the consultation package to start out; we can discuss that after the workshop and see if it's right for your team.
What others are saying
"During our workshop, we developed personas and testing scenarios that made it easy to think of a user’s perspective while implementing new functionality. By the end of the project we knew we were delivering something special focused on our users, a feeling that was reflected in great responses and even greater adoption."
